Toronto Mayor John Tory says the dismissal of three managers and a senior staffer in Transportation Services,  should put all city staff on notice for job performance.

The shake up came in the wake of an ongoing OPP investigation into potential bid rigging of paving contracts.  The Mayor says the auditor general’s report, which triggered the investigation, revealed mismanagement and incompetence, but not wrong doing per se .

The managers, including Hector Moreno, Trevor Tenn and Jacqueline White and a contract inspection supervisor, were let go last Thursday.  In a memo, Transportation Services boss Barbara Gray said the changes better align the division to meet operational needs.
The city refuses to officially comment on the departures saying it doesn’t discuss personnel matters.
