One councillor’s motion, that called for the grant to be denied since uniformed police officers are banned from participating, was defeated 27-17.

John Campbell feels since city employees are being excluded the organization should not get $260,000 in municipal funding.
The Toronto Police Association had also wanted to see the funding withdrawn.
Meanwhile, Pride Toronto’s consistently said officers are welcome as long as they don’t wear their uniforms and appear as civilians.
Mayor John Tory has said he’d support the grant pointing out both the group and the police chief told him denying it wold not help resolve the issue.
