Officials are warning residents and tourists to steer clear of both the top and the bottom of the Scarborough bluffs – due to landslides.
All the rain we’ve had has led to more erosion of the bluffs than usual.
And although the ground may look stable – with plenty of grass on the surface – one official says in some areas there’s very little underneath – and a landslide can be unpredictable and move fast.
Fire chief Matthew Pegg says a lot of the ground is very saturated and that affects the cohesion of the soil.
Up to 15 landslides have rolled down the east side of the bluffs recently.
