The City of Toronto is extending the permit cancellation date for about 90 groups or individuals – affected by flooding at Toronto Island park.

Permits have been extended to July 31st – and staff are working with permit holders to provide available options for rescheduling or relocating their events – or providing a refund.

City- run recreation programs at Toronto Island park are also cancelled through July 31st – affecting about 350 summer camp kids.

The park is still closed to the general public and ferry service is restricted to island residents – because water levels are still high and more than 40 per cent of the park is under water.

Environment Canada has reported that water levels in Lake Ontario appear to be stabilizing – but even at the current conditions – it will take several weeks for water levels to subside.
