An outfit called “Boobs and Brass” can now add “award winning” to its title.
It was deliberate attempt to break the male dominance of the brass band world when the all-female band was created 11 years ago. Since then, they have raised about $500,000 for a charity called “Breast Cancer Now,” grown to more than 600 members across the UK and this year will launch an international offshoot in New Zealand.
The band has been recognized with a BBC Music Day Award.
Men are allowed to join the band, but they must to wear a signature Pink Jacket when they perform.
