No comment yet from the Trudeau government – about the U-S Supreme Court’s partial reinstatement of President Donald Trump’s ban on travellers from six mainly Muslim countries.
The government is waiting for more information – but a spokesman for Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen says – dual nationals from countries affected who are travelling on their Canadian passports – would not be subject to the restrictions – and Canadian permanent residents from the six designated countries – who have valid resident cards and valid U-S visas – are deemed eligible to enter.
The American ruling means people can be refused entry into the U.S. – if they don’t have a solid reason to be in the states – such as a job offer, family, or a study permit.
The ban would apply to citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
