'COME FROM AWAY' WINS FOUR DORAS, HONOURING TOP TORONTO TALENT

More accolades for the Canadian stage production Come From Away.

The musical about Newfoundland hospitality after the 9-11 attacks won four prizes at the Dora Mavor Moore Awards on Monday night, including best musical theatre production.

The Mirvish production, which continues its run on Broadway, also took home the best new musical/opera award, and an outstanding female performance prize for Jenn Colella for her portrayal of real-life retired airline Captain Beverley Bass.

In the general theatre category, Soulpepper Theatre Company won five Doras, including a best production prize for Father Comes Home From the Wars (Parts I, II, III) while Tapestry Opera also picked up five Doras for Rocking Horse Winner, including best opera production.

Now into its 38th year, the Dora Awards honour top Toronto talent in the performing arts.
