The dress Marilyn Monroe was stitched into before breathlessly serenading then president John F. Kennedy is believed to be coming to Canada for the first.
The nude, sheer gown, which features over 2,500 crystals and 6,000 hand-sewn rhinestones will be on display in the community hall in Luseland, Saskatchewan, about 200 kilometres west of Saskatoon on July 10.
Luseland happens to be the hometown of billionaire Jim Pattison who purchased the dress for $4.8-million.
It cost $12,000 in 1962, which was the year Monroe wore it when she sang ”Happy Birthday, Mr. President” at Kennedy’s 45th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden three months before she died.
