Good news for those who’ve been unable to enjoy the Toronto Island because of the flooding this summer.  As of 8 o’clock this morning the ferries were back running and Toronto Mayor John Tory declared the Islands ready to welcome you.

Rainfall and high Lake Ontario water levels at one point covered 40% of the islands.

The Mayor told reporters at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal this morning that all city recreation programs are back in operation, all of the beaches are open with lifeguards on duty but, because of the damage caused by flooding a portion of some beaches will still be off limits.
