U.S., NORTH KOREA URGED TO END THREATS AND TALK THINGS OUT

While the world awaits the next verbal salvo between Washington and Pyongyang, countries are asking the U.S. and North Korea to cool the white hot rhetoric.

France is urging all sides ”to act responsibly and to de-escalate” tensions.
A French government spokesperson says Paris is ”watching what’s going on with concern” and ”is ready to put all its means at disposal so we can find a peaceful solution.”
Britain’s U.N. ambassador says the U.K. ”stands should to shoulder with the United States.
Matthew Rycroft says the two countries have been very clear in demanding a halt to North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs and that Kim Jong Un’s regime should listen to and ”act on that clarity,” stressing that North Korea ”holds the key to sanctions being removed.”
Russia’s U.N. ambassador says President Trump and the North Korean leader should ”start a dialogue,” adding Russia’s ”ready to do whatever we can to promote dialogue, and through our embassy we are in contact with North Korean authorities.”
Vassily Nebenzia observes ”tensions are too high at the moment” and ”we should give it a few days to calm down hopefully.
