The organizer of a planned “nationalist rally” in Toronto is planning to go ahead with the event despite the condemnation of the deadly violence last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.
An event page on Facebook says the rally, hosted by the Canadian Nationalist Party, will be would be held at the University of Toronto on September 14th.
The University is denying any such a rally is planned but students groups are demanding the University not issue permits to allow the event to occur on the school’s property.
The organizer, Travis Patron, is quoted as saying it’s incorrect to label him a white supremacist — he says he’s just someone who doesn’t believe in multiculturalism. And says the rally will go ahead at a yet-to-be-determined location.
