The Woodstock Music and Art Fair – simply known as “Woodstock” – attracted nearly 500,000 people to Max Yasger’s dairy farm in Belthel, New York. It was to have ended 48 years ago yesterday but ultimately ran an extra day.
32 acts performed, Canada’s Joni Mitchell commemorated the event with her song “Woodstock” and the the 1970 documentary movie called “Woodstock” won an academy award.
Rolling Stone Magazine named Woodstock one of the 50 moments that changed the history of music.
