Doug Ford’s made up his mind and will announce next Friday whether he’ll take another shot at running for mayor of Toronto or seek nomination as an MPP for the Progressive Conservative party.
The former city councillor revealed in June he had put together an ”exploratory team” to look into a potential mayoral bid but warned a return to municipal politics was not 100 percent.
Ford spent one term as councillor for Ward 2 Etobicoke North and unsuccessfully ran against John Tory in 2014 after his late brother Rob withdrew to deal with cancer.
Ford will announce his decision September 8 at Ford Fest, the family’s annual community BBQ.
The next civic election is October 22, 2018.
The next general provincial election is June 7, 2018.
