More information is needed from Ottawa – about who exactly is coming through unofficial Ontario ports of entry – and what their plans are.
So says Ontario’s immigration minister Laura Albanese – who adds that the province hasn’t seen the sudden influx of asylum seekers that Quebec has – but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen here.
A federal-provincial task force on the issue will be meeting on Friday in Ottawa – and Albanese says she’ll keep pushing for more data on asylum seekers.
The minister says temporary facilities which have been set up in Cornwall may no longer be needed – but they will be kept on standby in case they are.
