A large Canadian study has found that contrary to popular belief…a diet that contains a moderate amount of fat is linked to a reduced risk of premature death. Researchers at Hamilton’s McMaster University also found that eating a high-carbohydrate diet is associated with an increased risk of premature death.
Co-author Andrew Mente says they then looked at fruit and vegetable intake for more than 135 thousand people in 18 countries and found 4 servings are enough even though existing guidelines recommend at least 5 daily servings.
The information was presented today at European Society of Cardiology Congress in Barcelona and published in British Medical Journal “The Lancet.”
