Speaking to students at Lawrence Park Collegiate, the premier and education minister announced a plan to modernize curriculum.
(CBC News)
Premier Kathleen Wynne says the changes will follow public consultations.
”We’re going to do a curriculum refresh.”
She adds the focus will be on core skills, particularly math, and what she calls ”transferable” life skills.
The announcement comes only days after standardized test results showed flat or declining math scores among public elementary students.
New report cards will be brought in for the 2018-19 school year with the aim to better track students’ development.
Also part of the refresh is an investment of $49-million over three years into a well-being program that’ll focus on the ”whole student,” including cognitive, social, emotional and physical well-being.
