The Wynne government’s unveiled a framework to handle the sale and manage the use of marijuana after the Trudeau government legalizes its recreational use next summer.
(Attorney General Yasir Naqvi, Finance Minister Charles Sousa, Health Minister Dr. Eric Hoskins / CBC)
The plan includes about 150 stores by 2020, including 40 in July next year, that’ll be run separately by the LCBO and online ordering through a government-run website.
Online distribution will be available starting in July next year
Attorney General Yasir Naqvi says the goal’s to close all marijuana dispensaries that have popped p around Ontario.
”If you operate one of these facilities, consider yourself on notice.”
Sale will be restricted to those 19 and older.
The government says legislation will be introduced later this fall, following province-wide consultations.
High-profile cannabis supporters, like the so-called ”Princess of Pot”, Jodie Emery says it’s ”disgusting” that police and politicians who fought against legalization are now ”cashing in on legal pot.”
