Seven simple factors for protecting your brain as you age have been offered by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.
Called Life’s Simple 7, they include four ideal behaviours and three ideal health factors to maintain a healthy heart.
The behaviours are: not smoking, being physically active, eating a healthy diet and maintaining a Body Mass Index lower than 25.
The other factors are: an untreated blood pressure of less than 120 over 80, untreated total cholesterol of less than 200 and fasting blood glucose of less than 100.
