The Metrolinx Board of Directors is scheduled to vote today on the latest draft of its newest 25 year master transit plan.
Metrolinx Chief Planning Officer Leslie Woo says the plan encompasses the GTHA and relies not so much on new infrastructure, but better utilization of what’s already available.
Woo says the plan aims to created seamless transitions, better access to stations and clearing space for a future where a driver-less cab drops you off. It also imagines bus links, bike lanes and HOV lanes.
Also on the agenda at today’s meeting is fare integration among the various GTHA transit systems.
The Toronto area is expected to be home to ten million people by 2014
