Just days after breaking the record for the most Emmys won by a performer for a single role – a 6th straight win for lead in the comedy ”Veep” – Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed she has breast cancer.

The 56-year-old actress made the announcement on Twitter.
”1 in 8 women get breast cancer.  Today, I’m the one.
The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union.  The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal healthcare a reality.”
Louis-Dreyfus actually received the diagnosis the day after her historic Emmy win.
She’s advocated for cancer research in the past, teaming up with the Livestrong Foundation.
The former ”Seinfeld” star’s also stood up for environmental causes and green living.
