The wind turbine at Exhibition Place hasn’t delivered a watt of power since this past spring.
Toronto Hydro’s Tori Gass says damage to the turbine’s generator occurred during a powerful storm in March.  The turbine also stopped working for almost a year back in 2012 when a piece of newly installed equipment failed and in 2014 it also stopped producing power for several months.
Toronto Hydro says despite the problems, the turbine is considered quite reliable with a 95% record of availability.  The utility says upgrades will be completed next month to extend the turbine’s 25-year lifespan by another 10 years.
