Some small business on Yonge Street in Toronto’s downtown core are breathing easier with news that a massive property tax increase has been reassessed and cut in half.
The Yonge Street Small Business Association had been looking at stores closing and moving because of the proposed increase. Spokesman John Anderson says that threatened to turn the neighbourhood into another street that’s more like a shopping mall.
Anderson says to keep that from happening, the association will continue to fight massive tax increases in the future.
