GARDINER FALL MAINTENANCE TO INCONVENIENCE FEWER DRIVERS

It comes as good news for motorists who drive the Toronto’s expressways during the weekends.

Toronto Mayor John Tory says it’s been decided that fall maintenance on the Gardiner Expressway will be conducted overnight on four weekend days rather than through an entire weekend. And only westbound lanes will be affected within the allotted closing hours of 10 pm to 5am. The four weekend overnights are November 13th and 14th and November 27th and 28th.

As for the Don Valley Parkway, it won’t be closed at all this fall for maintenance. Then in 2018, Tory says a collaboration between city departments has found ways to complete maintenance work in just a single closure.

The mayor says the data shows it makes sense to do Gardiner maintenance overnight this fall when some 6000 vehicles are affected, whereas in a 24 hour period on Saturday, some 46,000 vehicles use the Gardiner.
