This is the day historians, investigators and conspiracy theorists have waited 54 years for as tens of thousands of previously classified records from the assassination of U.S. President John Kennedy are scheduled to be made public.

About 90% of the available records related to Kennedy’s death are already public.  The final release is expected to include some 40,000 pages.

The largest lingering question is whether Lee Harvey Oswald, Kennedy’s assassin, acted alone.  Within a hour of the shooting, Dallas policeman J.D. Tippit was also killed.  Shortly after that Oswald was arrested in connection with both deaths.
On November 24th, Oswald was shot to death by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby in the basement of the Dallas police department.
