Just days after an internal memo revealed over 4,300 patients had to be treated in the hallways over a 12-month period ending last April, the province has announced Brampton Civic Hospital will receive 37 beds in the coming weeks.

These include six previously announced as part of a provincial plan to add 1,200 beds to hospitals across Ontario.
In making the announcement, Health Minister Eric Hoskins concedes Brampton’s one of the fastest growing cities in the country if not North America.
”You need to have access to the right healthcare located close to home.”
Along with the new beds for Brampton Civic Hospital, Hoskins announced the province will fund phase two of the redevelopment of Peel Memorial Hospital, noting this will ”significantly increase patient capacity” and include ”well over 100 new beds.”
