Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi, resplendent in a Toronto Argonaut sweater, has fulfilled his losing bet with Toronto Mayor John Tory after the Stampeders lost Sunday’s Grey Cup in Ottawa.
Nenshi was forced to read a poem from Toronto Mayor John Tory as part of a bet the two had on the game.
He read in part, “As I taste the bitter tears of defeat,
and realize that the Toronto Argos can’t be beat,
I must also acknowledge a fact that I know is true:
Toronto, Canada’s largest city, my God, I love you.”
The Stampeders were the favourites heading into the game and lost 27 – 24 to the Argos.
