A 500-year-old painting of Christ believed to be the work of Leonardo da Vinci is heading to the new Louvre Abu Dhabi.
It sold earlier this month in New York for a record price of $400 million apparently purchased by a Saudi prince who paid the highest auction price for any work of art ever.
Leonardo da Vinci died in 1519 and there are fewer than 20 of his paintings in existence.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi opened earlier this month.  It holds 600 artworks permanently and 300 on loan from France.  There is no explanation as to why the Salvator Mundi is headed to the United Arab Emerates.
