Even with Christmas falling on a Monday this year and with many shows going to a seven-performance week, ticket sales on Broadway over the holiday hit almost $36 million, $5.5 million more than a year ago, representing an 18% over all increase.
The musical “Hamilton” led the way.
The top premium price for a pair of tickets to “Hamilton” hit a new Broadway record of $2,300 dollars.
“Hamilton” brought in almost $4 million for the week at an average ticket price of just over $350.
According to the trade group “Broadway League,” the average ticket price for all 32 shows being tracked was $146 up from $133 the week before.
