The musical performances, including one by hip-hop artist Kardinal Offishall, have been called off.
The modified program will still feature the Christmas Lights Across Canada multimedia show that’s been running every night and a celebration of First Nations culture at the Canadian Museum of History.
Despite earlier concerns, the pyrotechnics and laser shows are still expected to light up the sky above Parliament Hill at midnight.
Public skating on the Canada 150 rink will also go on as planned through midnight.
