Donald Trump has fired back against excerpts from a soon-to-be released book that say he never expected – or wanted – to win the White House, the victory left wife Melania in tears and that a senior adviser thought his son’s contact with a Russian lawyer during the election campaign was ”treasonous”.
The book ”Fire and Fury:  Inside the Trump White House,” was written by Michael Wolff.

Trump appears most upset by remarks made by former chief strategist Steve Bannon, maintaining he had little to do with his campaign and ”has nothing to do with me or my Presidency.”
”When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind,” Trump said in a formal statement.
An excerpt from the book was published online by New York magazine and released by other media outlets that obtained advance copies of the book is to be released January 9.
In it, Bannon described a Trump Tower meeting in 2016 between Donald Trump Jr., campaign aides and a Russian lawyer as ”treasonous” and ”unpatriotic”.

New York magazine’s published a lengthy adaptation of the book in which Wolff writes Trump believed his nomination would boost his brand but that he never thought he’d win, that Trump’s son told a friend his father looked as if he’d seen a ghost when it became clear he might win.

Donald Jr. also described Melania as ”in tears – and not of joy”.
A spokesperson for the First Lady, disputes the account saying Melania supported her husband’s decision to run and was happy when he won.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the book’s filed with false and misleading accounts from individuals, who have no access or influence with the White House.
