Philanthropist and former Toronto radio mogul Gary Slaight is set to become the first non-musician to be recognized for his humanitarian efforts at this year’s Juno Awards.
The Allan Waters Humanitarian Award is given to Canadian artists or industry leaders who have made a positive impact on social welfare.
It’s the second time Slaight is being recognized by the Juno Awards.  In 2012 he received the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award.

Previous “Waters Award” winners include Buffy Sainte-Marie, Neil Young, Bryan Adams and Bruce Cockburn.

Slaight will be honoured March 24th at the Juno gala dinner in Vancouver.
