It’s important news for people who carry an EpiPen for life threatening allergic reactions.
The Canadian distributor of the EpiPen says there is a shortage of one size of the emergency treatment, the 0.3-milligram form of the EpiPen.
Pfizer Canada says the shortage is because of a manufacturing disruption, while the 0.15 milligram EpiPen Junior for young children is not affected. The supply shortfall is expected to be resolved by March 2nd.
EpiPens expire on the last day of the month indicated on the product packaging.
But Health Canada advises anyone having an anaphylactic reaction to use their expired product and immediately all 911.
