Six weeks after Apotex founder Barry Sherman and his wife Honey were found inside their Toronto mansion, police have announced they’re treating the case as a targeted double murder.
Homicide Det Sgt. Susan Gomes confirms the 75-year-old Sherman and his 70-year-old wife were found hanging by belts to a railing near their indoor swimming pool in seated positions.
However, the officer adds there were no signs of forced entry into the home.
In a statement released after the police announcement, the Sherman family said it’s what they had felt from the start.
”This conclusion was expressed by the family from the outset and is consistent with the findings of the independent autopsy and investigation.”
Soon after their deaths, the family hired a team of experts, including former Toronto detectives to conduct a separate, independent investigation.
And it was recently reported that the private investigators also believe the couple was murdered.
While police do not identify any potential suspects, Det-Sgt. Gomes says there’s an ”extensive list” of people police plan to interview.
