Toronto Council has voted to slap a new 4% tax on hotels and short term accommodation providers like those listed on Air BandB.
That new level is expected to raise some $16 million in new revenue.  However hotels will no longer be required to pay a destination marketing fee to Tourism Toronto
Council also agreed to cap property tax hikes for small business at ten per cent and adopted a review of winter respite shelter services.
The first full council meeting of the year continues today.
