A Chatham woman’s taking her former common-law partner to court for allegedly denying they had won $6-million last year before claiming all the money for himself.

Denise Robertson alleges in her civil lawsuit that she and Maurice Thibeault had a long-standing agreement that they would split any winnings.

She claims they both regularly bought lottery tickets throughout their nearly two-year-long relationship, with both of them buying or pay for the tickets at different times.

Then September 20, 2017 OLG announced a $12-million prize was to be split between two winning tickets – one in Quebec, the other in Chatham.

Robertson claims she texted Thibeault, urging him to check their ticket.

He agreed he would but later told Roberston and some of their friends they had not won.

Three days later, she came home to find out he had packed up and left.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has paid him half the prize but is withholding the rest pending the outcome of the lawsuit.
