A former star of the New York City Ballet, whose dancing career was cut short when he was diagnosed at age 30 with a spinal tumour, has died at age 61.
Sean Lavery was one of the company’s most prolific male dancers in the 1980’s starring in roles from a wide swath of the company’s repertoire.
After retiring from dancing, Lavery went on to serve the company as ballet master, coach and administrator for more than two decades.
