NEWFOUNDLAND'S GOVERNMENT WANTS EX-PATS TO COME BACK

With Newfoundland and Labrador’s population aging, the province is hoping to increase its population – by bringing former residents back.

New come-home efforts include an online survey asking expatriates why they left – and what might entice them to come back home.

The Conference Board of Canada has forecast that the province will lose about 10 per cent of its residents in the next 20 years – without an influx of newcomers and major new projects.
