Toronto’s film and television production sector is getting some new space.
A new film studio will be built in the Port Lands district.
Cinespace Film Studios says it’ll replace the area – that was lost when it sold its facility on Eastern Avenue to General Motors.
The new studio will also be bigger than the old one – and once complete it’ll occupy Marine Terminal 51 – and part of the cruise ship terminal.
Mayor John Tory says the news means Toronto’s film industry will continue growing.
Last year the sector generated about two billion dollars in economic activity.
