The Trudeau government’s legislation on strengthening controls on the sale, licensing and tracing of guns – could be introduced as soon as tomorrow.

The bill is expected to fulfil Liberal election platform promises – to enhance background checks for anyone buying a handgun or other restricted firearm – as well as requiring buyers to present a valid license.

The legislation would repeal some measures passed by the previous Harper Conservative government.
