Lt.-Gov. Elizabeth Dowdeswell hinted the government plans to invest in new programs and expand on some others already in place.
She added funding to reduce hospital wait times and increase access to home care for seniors and mental health is on the way, also suggesting there will be changes to dental coverage.
Just before the speech, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath provided details on her party’s $1.2-billion dental care plan and indicated whatever changes the Liberals make came from the New Democrats platform.
Horwath also says her party will vote against the speech from the throne and the budget.
Tory Leader Doug Ford responded to the speech in a statement.
”The premier wrote a lot of cheques.  I can tell the people of Ontario that these cheques are going to bounce.”
