The former wife of music legend Elvis Presley is claiming now that the King committed suicide when he died of a drug-related heart attack 40-years ago.
72-year old Priscilla Presley makes the claim in a new documentary, called “Elvis Presley: The Searcher.”
Priscilla said Elvis’ inner circle desperately tried to wean him off drugs but he’d have none of it.  He died at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, Aug. 16, 1977 at the age of 42.
Priscilla said the root of Elvis addiction was his stint in the U.S. Army in the early 60’s.
This isn’t the first time whispers have emerged that Elvis may have orchestrated his own demise.  In December of last year suicide notes allegedly written by Elvis emerged.  One note hinted at depression saying quote, “I’m sick and tired of my life. I need a long rest.”
