Kathleen Wynne’s comparison follows remarks by the Tory leader, who said if he wins the election he would commission an independent audit of what he considers reckless government spending, and that if she tried to pull these kinds of ”shady tricks” in private life there would be more Liberals joining David Livingston in jail.
That was a reference to the former chief-of-staff to former premier Dalton McGuinty, who was recently sentenced to four months in jail for his part in the cancelled gas plants scandal.
The premier says Doug Ford sounds like Donald Trump because he is like the U.S. president.
”He believes in ugly, vicious … a brand of politics that traffics in smears and lies. He’ll say anything about anyone at any time. Because just like Trump, it is all about him.”
During a campaign stop in Cobourg, Ford laughed off the remark, calling the premier desperate.
”She can fight an election in another country. I’m focused on the people of Ontario.”
The Tory leader added he’s not going to get personal with her ”because I’d be here for a month.”
