Lawyers for former Ontario PC leader Patrick Brown have filed a statement of claim in Superior Court against CTV, that first reported sexual misconduct allegations by two women in January.
The statement of claim is seeking over $8-million in damages and a full apology or retraction published online and on CTV National News to mitigate the damages.
Brown has strongly denied the allegations, saying there were discrepancies in the women’s stories, accusing CTV of dishonest reporting.
CTV News has issued a statement saying it stands by its reporting and will vigorously defend itself in court.
Brown, who was removed from the PC caucus and sits as an independent, is not seeking re-election in June.
