The co-founders of a British Columbia-based company at the centre of the privacy breach scandal concerning Facebook – insist they do not harvest data from social media.

Jeff Silvester of the political advertising firm AggregateIQ – says the company only uses what it is provided – to help its customers craft messages for online political ads.

Silvester says the company does not undertake any kind of voter profiling – and has always complied with laws in Canada and abroad and denies allegations by a Canadian whistle-blower linking it to Cambridge Analytica.

That political consultancy firm is accused of improperly accessing private Facebook data – to help the Leave campaign in the Brexit referendum – as well as Donald Trump’s winning 2016 U-S presidential bid.
