The premier says she’d not only continue to protect the protected Greenbelt – bordering the Greater Golden Horseshoe region – but would expand it.
Kathleen Wynne’s pledge comes the day after Tory leader Doug Ford backtracked on an election promise to open up parts of the protected area to development – saying he was listening to those who want the area preserved.
The premier says if her party is re-elected it will expand the Greenbelt into ecologically sensitive areas – such as the Orangeville and Oro moraines – and the Nottawasaga River corridor.
