Sir Paul McCartney’s donated 63 photos by his late wife to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

They will be featured at the museum’s new photography centre that opens October 12.

The collection includes Linda McCartney’s portraits of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix as well as images from nature and family photos.

She was voted American female photographer of the year in 1967, the same year she met Paul.

The following year, McCartney became the first female photographer to have her work (portrait of Eric Clapton) featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

She was the first to not only have photographed the magazine’s cover, but to have appeared on its front cover herself, with Paul, in 1974.

They married in 1969 and had four children before her death from breast cancer in 1998.
