A spokesperson for the PC party admits paid actors were hired to support and cheer for leader Doug Ford as he took part in last night’s first televised leaders’ debate.

Melissa Lantsman says a local candidate hired actors from a casting agency, adding it was ”unnecessary and a mistake,” that ”will not happen again.”
The spokesperson says Ford’s attracted record crowds since entering the race for leader.
”This has become even stronger since winning the leadership.”
Ford says he will be asking Toronto-Centre PC candidate Meredith Cartwright about it.
”That’s the first I’ve heard of that. We don’t need to pay anyone. When we have events, we’re packed, we’re standing room only.
