Margot Kidder, the Canadian-born actress who played Lois Lane to Christopher Reeve’s ‘Superman’, has died at age 69.
(Warner Bros.)
No word on the cause of death.
After appearing in the cult classics ”Sisters” (1972) and ”Black Christmas” (1974), it was her role as Lois Lane in ”Superman” (1978) that launched her into mainstream success.
The on-screen romance lasted four movies, making her a household name.
After a widely publicized nervous breakdown in 1996, Kidder was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and became an advocate for mental health issues.
She was also a political activist and was among a number of environmentalists to be arrested outside the White House in 2011 during a protest against TransCanada’s Keystone XL pipeline.
