Andrea Horwath’s New Democrats are gaining ground on Doug Ford and the Progressive Conservatives.
As the Ontario election campaign gets into a second week, a new Ipsos Poll gives the NDP leader 35 percent of voter support, ahead of Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals at 22 percent and just behind PC Leader Doug Ford who’s at 40 percent support.
Horwath has gained six points from last week’s Ipsos Poll, while Ford’s support has remained the same.
Only 3 percent say they would vote for other parties, including the Green Party.
Ipsos Public Affairs CEO Darrell Bricker explained the Tories have some key ridings. In the seat-heavy 905 region, he says they are winning by 20 percentage points.
In Toronto’s 416 region, the NDP have the stronger lead, with 38 percent of respondents saying they’d vote orange.
The election is Thursday June 7th.
