On this final day of the Ontario election campaign, Doug Ford is expected to continue being grilled over a $16.5-million lawsuit filed against him by his late brother’s widow.

The Progressive Conservative leader says the timing of a lawsuit from Renata Ford is suspect, as he defends his credibility amid allegations he’s a negligent business manager of his family’s business, Deco Labels.

“We have an incredible company for 55 years, I’m proud of it. Those claims are false and without merit, and it will be very clear when we prove that in court,” Ford explained at a campaign event.

A Toronto Star report says court documents value the estate of the late Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at $1.1-million. Documents also show no indication that there has been a detailed accounting of Rob Ford’s financial affairs or any payout to his beneficiaries, two years after his death.

This is one of the main allegations by Renata Ford against Doug Ford. She claims he’s in breach of trust because he has not fulfilled what she says are his obligations as executor of her late husband’s estate.

Both Liberal Leader Kathleen Wynne and NDP Leader Andrea Horwath used the allegations against Ford to suggest that he’s not deserving of running the province or taking care of Ontario residents.

Wynne will be in Toronto, Port Dover and Burlington for the last day of the provincial election campaign.

Andrea Horwath has several campaign events today, all in the Toronto area.

Doug Ford’s campaign will swing through Milton and Oakville this morning before events in Burlington, Toronto and Caledonia.
